Simon Jones is out of the Test and one-day series against Sri Lanka afterinjuring his left knee against Ireland on Monday when playing for Glamorgan.Jones has been told to rest for six weeks after an MRI scan revealed he hadsustained a new injury to his knee, in the shape of cartilage damage. Hecould yet require surgery.Jones adds to the list of injury woes for England, with Michael Vaughan,Ashley Giles and Steve Harmison already out of the first Test which startsat Lord’s on Thursday 11 May. The news is yet another setback for Jones, who had justrecovered from ankle and knee problems which forced him out of the wintertours of India and Pakistan and his early season preparations had been goingwell.
